Westport Film Club
Man on Wire is a 2008 documentary film directed by James Marsh and will be shown in the Westport Cineplex on Wednesday November 5 at 8:45pm.
The film clubs season has just started so anyone interested in joining the film club should come down to the Cinema and sign up. It costs €25 for yearly membership which allows you and a friend tickets for only €5 for each showing on the first Wednesday of every month. Non members are more than welcome too and pay €10 per film. This month's film Man on a Wire has received much critical acclaim and is sure to rivet the audience
Table quiz in Balla
The newly formed Parents’ Association of Balla Secondary School plan to organise a series of table quizzes to raise funds for the provision of a defibrillator for the school.
The first of these quizzes will take place in Durkan’s Bar, The Square, Balla on Thursday NoVember 6 commencing at 9pm sharp. Tables of four cost €20. There will be team prizes for first three teams and a fundraising raffle will also take place on the night. Please support this worthy cause.

The Pontoon Bridge Hotel’s Wedding Fair will take place on November 2 at 2pm. Come along for a fun day!
Interested in ladies’ indoor soccer?
Mayo Sports Partnership in partnership with FAI is hosting an indoor soccer programme for women at Balla Secondary School Sports Hall starting on Wednesday evenings beginning on November 5 from 8pm to 9pm.

Fashion show in Straide
The Straide fashion show extravaganza will take place on Monday November 3 at 8.15pm sharpe in Straide Hall.
The clothes supplied will be from Mayo's top fashion houses: Sanzio, Eddie Murphys, Next Step, Little Madam/Cheeky Chap and shoes by Parsons. All tickets sold will be included in a draw for one night’s B&B for two people in the Slieve Russell Hotel, Cavan. There will also be plenty of raffle prizes on the night. Badminton in Balla
Badminton is starting up on Monday November 10 at Balla Community School Sports Complex from 8pm to 10pm.
This is a four-week programme and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t played previously, it’s an opportunity for all skill levels to try the game out, get some exercise and have some fun. Badminton is a great game for both men and women and there will even be some racquets available so if you haven’t got a racquet don’t worry! Monster Ceili for Knock
A ceili will take place in the Belmont Hotel Knock on Saturday November 15 with the Annally Ceili band from Longford.
Great night of dancing, sets, waltzes, quick step etc. Tea and
refreshments will be served. There will also be a raffle with lots of prizes.
