New part-time course in development education

EDUCATION

IT Sligo is offering a new part-time course in Development Education, with the support of Irish Aid.

The course is tailored to suit those interested in learning more about sustainable development issues locally or globally, and those who wish to undertake voluntary work at home or overseas.

Lecturer in development education, Mary Clarke, said the course offers a valuable opportunity for anyone interested in development education to gain a better understanding of the area. “The course we are offering is a module in our BA applied social studies and social care courses,” she added. “It explores issues like social justice, health, ethical, cultural, human rights, social, economic, political and other development education issues in Africa, South America and Asia.”

No previous educational experience is required for entry on the course and the fee is €100, if sponsored by an employer; €50 if sponsored by a voluntary organisation or self funded; or €20 for students and the unwaged.

The course starts on March 25 and continues on April 15, May 6, May 20 and May 27.

Enquiries should be directed to Margaret Gilmore: 071 915 5326; [email protected] or Mary Clarke 071 915 5279; [email protected]
