A man who was so drunk that he almost fell in front of a moving car, was convicted and fined at Ballina District Court for being intoxicated in a public place.
On January 2 2011, Owen Quinn, 39 The Spires, Church Road, Ballina, was observed by Garda Noel Crinnegan to damage a parked car — this criminal damage charge was withdrawn.
Quinn, who was intoxicated, was also observed to nearly fall out in front of a car and he was arrested under section 4 of the Public Order Act. Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined him €100.
The defendant, who also failed to appear at a previous court sitting, was convicted and fined €150 for failing to appear.
