Classic Tennessee Williams play comes to Castlebar
Tennessee Williams’ classic play The Glass Menagerie comes to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar in a cracking new production on Tuesday, March 8 at 8pm.
A son longs to escape from his stifling home, where his genteel but long-abandoned mother worries about the future prospects of his shy, lame, sister. Williams’ classic play is brought to stirring life in this new production directed by Max Hafler.
Reidy, Wolfe, and Reidy take to the stage
A triple-bill of contemporary folk music and poetry from three established talents, Tony Reidy, Ger Wolfe, and Ger Reidy, takes place at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday March 10 at 8pm.
Asylum seeker exhibition in Castlebar
It’s Been A Long Journey — It Still Is, an exhibition of an arts project by the Rape Crisis Centre carried out with female asylum seekers living in direct provision in County Mayo, continues at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar. Facilitated by visual artist Isabela Basombrio Hoban and quilt maker Agnes Warren, the exhibition, which comprises photographic, text, sound, and textile works, is the result of an innovative and deeply moving project. The exhibition runs until Wednesday March 16.
Lithuanian cultural event in the Linenhall
St Casimir, Lithuania’s patron saint, is honoured each year in Vilnius during Kaziukas Fair, a tradition dating back to the 17th century. In the spirit of this tradition, the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar will play host to Castlebar’s very own Kaziukas Fair on Sunday March 13 from 12pm to 4pm, with an arts and crafts fair presenting a whole range of Lithuanian goods and crafts, including jewellery, knitted goods, straw baskets, and baked goods.
Helen Curran exhibition in Claremorris
An art exhibition and sale of paintings by the late Helen Curran will take place in Claremorris Library on Friday March 18 at 6pm. The paintings will be on show during the library opening hours in the lead up to the event. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 1.30pm, then from 2pm to 8pm. On Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 5pm, closed for lunch from 1pm to 2pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.
Wedding Fever grips Kilmeena
Kilmeena Drama Group are about to put on their production of Wedding Fever. The hilarious story is about an ordinary family in the 1960s dealing with the ups and downs in the lead up to a family wedding. The three act play will take place in Kilmeena Community Centre this evening Friday March 4, next Wednesday March 9, and Thursday March 10. Doors open at 7.30pm and curtains up at 8pm sharp. General admission is €10 with family concessions. Arrive early to secure a seat and avoid disappointment. Don’t miss your chance to experience a great night’s entertainment.
