A 23-year-old man who smashed a bar’s window with his crutch was sentenced to three months in prison.
On November 3 2009, gardaí were called to Quattro, Ballina at 3.10am after criminal damage was caused to the window of the pub. A barman informed gardaí that Patrick Fleming, Tone Row, Kilfian, Killala, who had been drinking in the pub, had smashed the window. The defendant admitted to gardaí that he broke the window and told the owner that he would pay compensation, however compensation was not paid.
€350 compensation was in court on Tuesday. On hearing previous convictions, Judge Mary Devins said, “He has a nice little portfolio of convictions”, and convicted and fined Fleming €500 and sentenced him to three months in prison. Recognisance was fixed.
