Foxford Scouts officially up and running

Foxford’s new Scout Group is officially up and running. The 7th Mayo Foxford Scout Group have started meeting weekly with 43 children aged from six to 11 years from 28 families in the locality.

The 28 families involved up to this stage are to be congratulated for their commitment to training and their involvement in the group. The Scout leaders and those running the group are all parents from those families. This group of parents have been attending training sessions and meetings since October and their efforts are paying off now that their children have started meeting weekly as Scouts.

Leaders have undergone Garda clearance and have participated in Scouting Ireland training courses – including comprehensive child protection training. In addition, they are committed to ongoing training.

The Scout Group would like to thank the wider community for their support at a recent Church Gate Collection, and at the group’s Christmas fundraising raffle and collection at the craft fair. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Because of the huge interest in Scouts in the community, there is already a waiting list in place for children. If you would be interested in getting involved or adding your child’s name to the waiting list, email [email protected], phone 086 057 7110, or pick up a waiting list form at one of the weekly Scout meetings (7pm Thursday in the Sports Centre ).
