Mayo Fianna Fáil election candidate Lisa Chambers has urged all young people across Mayo to make sure their voice is heard in today’s General Election. Twenty-four-year-old Lisa Chambers, who is Fianna Fáil’s youngest candidate in this election, has urged everyone entitled to vote to make sure they get to the polling station.
“This election is the most important election for a generation,” she said. “Ireland has faced unprecedented economic difficulties and the choice facing young people now is between a stable recovery which protects jobs and growth or a Fine Gael-led coalition which will implement cuts not seen since the Great Depression.”
A recent graduate of UCD and NUIG, Ms Chambers has first-hand experience of the difficulties facing graduates in the search for employment.
“Many of us have found it difficult to find employment and have instead engaged in further study or have been forced to move away from home. Fianna Fáil, under our new leader Mícheál Martin, is the only party with a plan which will put Ireland on the path to recovery, securing jobs and ensuring economic growth.
“Our generation is the first to experience high growth, world-class infrastructure, and unrivalled access to third level education. Ireland has changed beyond recognition since 1997 and the country’s current difficulties can be overcome. On Sunday last our new leader Mícheál Martin outlined his plans to renew our party so that it once again becomes a positive force for the nation. The renewal of Fianna Fáil will go hand-in-hand with the renewal of Ireland.
“The choice facing voters on Friday is clear – a Fianna Fáil determined to renew our country and rebuild our economy – or a Fine Gael-led coalition with an unprecedented number of stealth taxes up its sleeve and swingeing cuts which will ruin our economy. I would urge all young people with an interest in our future to make sure their voice is heard this Friday.”
