The 2011 McWilliam Park Hotel Mayo Stages Rally is to become the first event to feature under a major new partnership initiative between the Road Safety Authority (RSA ) and Motorsport Ireland (MI ).
Details about the initiative and how it will be promoted during the weekend of the Mayo Stages Rally were announced by Noel Brett, chief executive of the RSA, at the official launch of the 2011 Mayo Stages Rally at the McWilliam Park Hotel Claremorris on Wednesday.
The initiative, which was launched last Wednesday in Dublin by the president of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA ), Jean Todt, is aimed at promoting a message about safe driving, particularly at those aged between 17 and 24 who are most at risk on Irish roads,
Welcoming the joint approach between the RSA and MI, Mr Todt noted that motorsport can held to continue to promote road safety. “This initiative is about declaring our support for safer raids and safer drivers, and encouraging our drivers, teams, and thousands of fans to do the same,” he said.
Further information about the rally which takes place on March 13 will also be unveiled at the launch, including some of the exciting plans for a ceremonial start in Claremorris on Saturday evening, as well as some of the special challenges which aim to attract a top quality entry to the popular event.
Training night for marshals on Mayo Stages Rally
A training night for marshals organised by Mayo and District Motorsport Club will be held at the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris on Friday March 4 commencing at 8pm. Anybody interested in helping to marshal on the Mayo Stages Rally on March 13 is requested to attend, an enjoyable and interesting evening is promised.
