Mayo revealed as Ireland’s best kissers

The results are in, Mayo has some of the best kissers in Ireland. Mayo recorded fewer outbreaks of the cold sore virus in 2010 than most other counties, according to a new all Ireland study conducted by A Vogel herbal remedies.

The study looked at the health of the nation’s lips, based on the popularity of the cold sore barrier ointment, Bio-Propolis, a natural antiseptic used to inactivate the cold sore virus and prevent a secondary infection.

Mayo placed 10th in the study recording fewer cold sore infections than 16 other counties. Laois claimed the title of having Ireland’s ‘most luscious lips’ with Kilkenny and Wexford coming a close second and third. Offaly were named ‘Ireland’s worst kissers’, coming in last place with the most outbreaks of that dreaded tingling virus. They were closely followed by Sligo and Dublin, highlighting their need for more kissable lips.

“Mayo appears to suffer less cold sore infections than most other counties which is great news,” said A Vogel herbal advisor Nicola Murphy. If you do suffer from this unsettling infection, be wary that outbreaks of the cold sore virus tend to increase at this time of year.

“If you suffer from cold sores, I would definitely recommend Bio-Propolis. It creates a protective barrier that speeds up the skin’s natural healing process and soothes any discomfort caused by those painful blisters. Bio-Propolis can reduce the healing time of a cold sore by 50 per cent and prevent you suffering from another unwanted infection. It can also help stimulate the rebuilding of collagen, helping Mayo’s lips feel kissable again in no time.”

A Vogel Bio-Propolis (RRP €8.41 ) is available from Mayo health food stores and selected pharmacies. See www.avogel.ie for details.
