A Galway man was ordered to pay €50 to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice for his part in the attempted theft of two rolls of cable from a recycling skip in an Eircom yard in Claremorris.

Claremorris District Court was told that Christopher Donovan from 39 Sona Glas, Ballybane, Galway was one of three men who drove into the Eircom depot in Claremorris on March 9 2010 and drove over to a recycling skip. Two rolls of cable valued at €100 were put in the boot of the car, but when the men tried to leave their way was blocked by an employee. The men were detained by staff working in the yard until the gardaí arrived.
