Hyundai passenger car sales for January 2011 have jumped by 74 per cent compared with January last year, according to Hyundai Cars Ireland. This has resulted in a growth in market share from 3.3 per cent in January 2010 to 4.56 per cent in January 2011.
Hyundai claims the introduction of its unlimited mileage warranty package has delivered sales throughout the range. It includes five years’ unlimited mileage, five years’ AA cover, and five years’ free health check.
The growth has also been propelled by the demand for the new IX35 and new IX20, coupled with a significant increase in the demand for the i30 range, which is currently headlining Hyundai’s latest marketing campaign.
Stephen Gleeson, Hyundai’s managing director, says: “Our warranty offering has no strings attached. Unlike some manufacturers who offer lengthy warranties with mileage limitations or short warranties with unlimited mileage, we have introduced Ireland’s only range wide manufacturer-backed lengthy (five years ) warranty with unlimited mileage AA cover for the entire period and free annual health checks.”
Sarah Hayes, Hyundai’s marketing manager, adds: “With the imminent launch of the i40, Hyundai’s first D segment model, and the launch later this year of the Velostar, the long awaited coupe replacement, we are ideally placed to build on this positive start with a forecast full year market share of five per cent for 2011 and seven per cent for 2012.”
Hyundai will unveil two new models for Europe, as well as the company's latest concept car, at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show from March 1.
The three newcomers signify a new era for Hyundai captured neatly by the new brand slogan, ‘New Thinking. New Possibilities'.
Making its world premiere in Geneva will be Hyundai's new D-segment model, the i40. Designed and engineered at Hyundai's European R&D headquarters in Germany, the i40 will move the company towards a ‘modern premium' positioning that will bring high-end features and vehicle quality to Hyundai customers at accessible prices. The i40 will go on sale from this summer.
The i40 will be joined on stage by the new Veloster, the company's groundbreaking new three-door coupe making its European debut. The Veloster features a unique 1+2 door configuration and combines sporting looks, real-world practicality, and cutting-edge technology - as well as best in class CO2 emissions of just 132g/km.
Another model making its European premiere will be the Curb concept. Codenamed HCD-12, this is a compact urban activity vehicle.
