Inspiration, collaboration, and innovation were the central themes at the Network Mayo ‘Inspiring Innovation’ launch, headed by guest speaker, Mary Davis (managing director, Special Olympics, Europe and Eurasia ).
Attendees at the Inspiring Innovation launch were addressed by Cathaoirleach of Westport Town Council, Cllr Teresa McGuire, and incoming Network Mayo president for 2011, Olwen Dawe, both of whom focused on the importance of support, encouragement, and networking during challenging economic times. Regional and community-based initiatives are also crucial to the development and growth of enterprise and creativity.
Mary Davis delivered a thought-provoking and insightful speech, touching on her own personal experiences and challenges. Ms Davis said having a vision and ensuring you follow your instinct, is instrumental to personal and professional success. Ms Davis also pointed to the importance of solidarity and support among groups and teams - how the collective effort to attain goals and objectives can make a real difference. She extolled the virtues of the Network Mayo group and its achievements to date, as well as its ongoing work; highlighting the importance of women in business and their contribution to the development of enterprise now and in the future.
Network Mayo’s president, Olwen Dawe, said: “It was an absolutely super kick-start to our year, the feedback from everyone in attendance was excellent. As a group, we were so honoured to host Mary Davis, along with Cllr Maguire for our launch. On a wet Monday evening in Mayo, people received a large dose of positivity and inspiration.”
Network will be supporting a visit from the SFA on February 21, where Avine McNally (acting director ) will discuss (mainly positive ) news for small business in 2011. Further details will be available on www.networkmayo.ie or the organisations’ Facebook and Twitter pages.
