A 21-year-old Mayo woman, who became abusive at Galway Garda Station after being told it would be a two-hour wait before she would be able to see her arrested boyfriend, was fined €250 this week.
Donna Walsh (21 ) with an address at 1 Main Street, Newport, Co Mayo, appeared at Galway District Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to being intoxicated in a public place and threatening and abusive behaviour at Galway Garda Station, Mill Street, on August 21, 2010.
Inspector Mick Coppinger told the court that the defendant entered the public office of Galway Garda Station wanting to speak to her boyfriend who had been arrested earlier on public order offences. When she was told that it would be at least two hours before she could see her boyfriend Walsh became extremely abusive and was obstructing other members of the public who were trying to access the public office.
Judge Mary Fahy convicted Walsh and fined her €250 with three months to pay for threatening and abusive behaviour while the remaining charge was taken into account.
