New Opel Corsa gets a new sporty look

The Opel Corsa’s makeover continues following the overhaul of most beneath the skin last year. Now Opel’s supermini has just got a new look in 2011 and a starting price of €14,350 for the entry level three-door version. A redesigned face with the new corporate design language lends it a sportier, expressive shape, making it recognizable as a member of the new Opel family.

New exterior colours and interior decors, as well as an offer of individualized, sporty limited editions make it more attractive than ever.

Opel claims that the new Corsa offers one of the widest product ranges in the small car segment. It comes in two distinct body styles: the coupé-like three-door, the family friendly five-door, and a commercial variant called Corsavan.

Inside the cabin, it continuously seduces with one of the roomiest and most attractive interiors in its class.

The engine line-up of the new Corsa ranges from 65bhp to 192bhp. This engine family was updated in 2010. This has reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 13 per cent while increasing engine power in most applications. To help drivers lower their fuel consumption, a shift up indicator light was added to the main instrument display.

The reworked 1.6-litre turbo 192 bhp OPC version continues to top the new Corsa family. The face of the Corsa OPC was also redesigned to match the rest of the new line-up, especially with new headlamps and a new grille.

The new Corsa’s diesel engine range features a choice of two efficient 1.3 CDTi variants (75 bhp and 95 bhp ) that combine performance, refinement, and efficiency. These engines achieve a respectable combined fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions, with both models being applicable for road tax of just €104 per year.

In addition to the four revamped trims, a limited edition version of the new Corsa is now available in Ireland. It features a black sapphire roof, black 17 inch twin-spoke alloy wheels along with many other sporty features including lowered sports suspension, front fog lights, red or yellow interior seat stitching, leather steering wheel, dark-tinted windows, and aluminium pedals.

The new Corsa has received significant chassis improvements in 2010 for better ride comfort, enhanced steering feel, and greater directional stability – all without compromising its acclaimed agility and driving fun.
