This spring Anam Cara will launch a new bereavement support service for parents who have experienced the sudden death of a child outside a hospital or hospice setting. This programme will be facilitated by a professional bereavement therapist and will give them the tools to help them deal with the day-to-day realities after the death of their child.
Anam Cara is a national voluntary organisation set up and run by bereaved parents to support families that have experienced the death of a child.
Anam Cara’s services are available at no charge to families for as long as they wish. They include a website and private message forum, bereavement talks given by professional guest speakers on relevant topics around parental grief and loss. Anam Cara has 11 local support groups, with one in Mayo. National Irish Bank has named Anam Cara as its official charity partner for 2011.
