Councillor Ollie Gannon, a member of Westport Town Council, condemned what he described as a “cosy cartel” among local petrol retailers in the town, where prices for fuel are a lot higher than petrol stations in Castlebar.
The Fine Gael councillor made his remarks during the monthly town council meeting, where he said that people are being ripped off and that the high prices for fuel in the town has not been challenged.
