A father of eight from Ballina was disqualified from driving for three years at this week’s court sitting after he was convicted of drink driving.
Ballina District Court heard that on December 12 2009, Paddy Collins, 48 Mount Assumpta, Ballina, was stopped on the Sligo Road at 1.36am after he was observed travelling at high speed in his van and crossing over the white lines on the road. Collins was arrested for drink driving and provided a specimen of his blood which gave a reading of 197mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
The unemployed married man was convicted and fined €500 by Judge Mary Devins and disqualified from driving for three years.
