Mayo employees could ‘win a day off work’

With January being officially Ireland’s most depressing month, what better way to remedy the winter blues than the prospect of a ‘Duvet Day’ for a great cause. To help support the work of Ireland’s almost 275,000 family carers, broadcasters and patrons of The Carers Association, Marty Whelan and Mary Kennedy, have teamed up to launch Ireland’s first ‘Win a Day Off Work’ campaign. The campaign offers Mayo employees the chance to win a ‘Duvet Day’ while raising vital funds for family carers.

The Carers Association has teamed up with RecruitIreland.com to launch this new campaign to help support its work providing vital services and campaigning for better rights for family carers.

Taking part is easy. Employers donate a day off work. A nominated person within each participating company sells raffle tickets to employees from which the lucky winner will be chosen. All information and materials required can be found at www.winadayoffwork.ie

Funds raised will go towards helping lighten the load of Ireland’s almost 275,000 family carers, who provide often round-the-clock care in the home for older people, those terminally ill, people with disabilities, and children with special needs. The Carers Association supports family carers by providing free in-home respite care to give family carers a break, training, support groups, a freephone national care line and campaigns for recognition and better rights and entitlements for carers.
