More than 30 organisations comprising companies, recruitment agencies, professional bodies, and third-level colleges are taking part in the annual Graduate Careers Fair hosted by Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT ) in its Castlebar campus on Thursday February 3.
Organisations attending the event include Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Lionbridge Technologies, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA ), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA ), FÁS, TTM Healthcare, i-to-i, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL ), CBE, Travel Bug Limited, Barretstown, and many others.
There will be a number of talks on the day from professional bodies, including the professional accounting bodies the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA ) and CIMA. TTM Healthcare will address the gathering with a talk entitled “Going abroad with the view to coming home” aimed at nursing students and graduates.
Information will also be available about the range of post-graduate courses and funding in GMIT and other higher education institutions. St Angela’s College Sligo, Institute of Technology Sligo, NUI Galway, and the University of Limerick will be in attendance.
Careers counsellor Michelle Kerins O’Brien says it is an excellent opportunity for GMIT students and graduates as well as the general public to link in with all of these organisations under the one roof.
“Please bring along a few copies of your CV and use this opportunity to talk to employers and heads of professional bodies about current career options, trends, and get advice on how to progress your studies and/or careers,” she advised.
