In the coming weeks sports teams from all over the county will be pulling on their boots once more in a bid for pre-season fitness. But what does it really mean to be fit and how can coaches obtain this? Mark Quinn of Blue Star Fitness will address these questions and many more in a upcoming workshop: Developing Pre-Season Fitness.
The workshop aims to provide coaches with an insight into testing, planning, and practices which focus on both practical and theoretical elements.
“The area of pre-season training is one that is often either overlooked or overworked and it is vital that training is at a level that takes into account the team’s long term goals as well as the initial seasons start,” explained the fitness coach.
The workshop is open to coaches of all field sports (of teams over 12 years of age ) and aims to inform coaches how to get the best out of their players. Dates are Knock/Kiltimagh United FC on February 5 at 10am and Conway Park, Castlebar, on February 12 at 10am.
Refreshments will be provided on the day. Places are limited so book early. Enquiries to 085 813 6835.
