I’m writing in regard to the article you printed last week about hotel staff not taking their holidays due to them. I work in a large hotel in the west of Ireland with no union to guide us.
Our employer refuses to pay our holiday money claiming poor business that has not affected his standard of living.
We can’t afford to take time off without money when you have a family and mortgage to support. You may say we’re entitled by law to our holiday leave and money but our weekly wage is more important to us. It would be lovely to take time out and relax as your previous article says but at what cost?
