An Environmental Policy and Agricultural Strategic Policy Committee meeting which was scheduled for Monday afternoon failed to go ahead as not enough councillors attended the meeting.
Chair of the SPC, Councillor Peter Flynn from Westport, and Cllr Michael McNamara, who travelled from Achill, were the only two councillors who sit on the SPC, who showed up for the 3.30pm meeting at the county council offices in Castlebar. Also in attendance was Johnny Groden from the Murrisk Development Association. The purpose of each SPC is to formulate policy recommendations for consideration by the council.
Councillors Michael Kilcoyne and Seamus Weir had sent their apologies prior to the meeting as they could not attend. After more than 40 minutes of waiting to see if another elected representative would be available to attend, the meeting was called off. The next Environmental Policy and Agricultural SPC will next meet on March 9.
