Pot-holed roads need urgent attention — Ring

The network of roads countywide has been described as a “danger zone” because of the thousands of potholes resulting from the recent freezing conditions. Now the Fine Gael spokesperson on Social Protection, Deputy Michael Ring, has called for a concerted effort to have them filled in as a matter of urgency.

“We had the National Road Authority and Mayo County Council with their warnings for safety on the roads during the snow and ice and I welcome their efforts,” Deputy Ring explained.

“However, it is a pity the NRA would not come out strongly against local authorities in relation to the condition of some of the potholed covered roads which are causing great damage to vehicles.

“There are very dangerous potholes all over the county that need to be filled. I am now calling on Mayo County Council, the NRA, and the Road Safety Authority to come together to identify the most damaged roads and have them repaired to prevent further accidents and damage to vehicles,” concluded Deputy Ring.
