A man who picked up a woman and child following a crash was before Ballina District Court for failing to pay a fixed penalty in relation to the child not wearing a seatbelt.
Garda John Flanagan stopped the commercial vehicle of Joe Garvin, 3 Nephin View, Ardagh, Ballina on June 4 at 11am in Kilmore Moy, Ballina.
A child who was in the front of the vehicle, with its mother, was not wearing a seatbelt. A fixed charge penalty notice was issued, but was not paid.
The court heard that Garvin had gave a lift to the woman and child after he stopped to assist the woman following a single vehicle crash.
Judge Aeneas McCarthy applied the Probation Act.
