Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny launched a new website this week aimed at inviting the public to make their views known on the future of Ireland. It has replaced the normal Fine Gael website on a temporary basis in advance of the General Election to maximise the opportunity for individuals to share their views with Fine Gael. According to the party: “This is a vital part of Fine Gael's intentions to use all means of communicating with the public; these include traditional media as well as a new and enhanced digital strategy.”
“One of the big failings of public representatives is that they often talk too much and don't listen enough,” Deputy Kenny said. “As well as talking to the public about our ideas and plans, I believe it is vital that we also listen to what they have to say. The new Fine Gael website aims to achieve this. It is part of an online information gathering exercise where individuals share their comments and in turn, we can learn from the views expressed on the website. This is a unique opportunity for the public to communicate with their public representatives and allow Fine Gael to respond to the views expressed. This is a nationwide undertaking where the people of Mayo can make their voices heard in advance of the General Election.
“For far too long, people are sick and tired of this Fianna Fail/Green Government constantly barking about how well it is performing,” he added. “Any sense of this Government listening has been lost and I want to change that by making a genuine attempt to listen to the public. In turn, Fine Gael has decided to set aside our normal Party website for three to four weeks. We have replaced it with a facility for the public to contribute their ideas and thoughts on any issue they want to speak with us about. You may visit the website at www.finegael.ie and spread the word to your friends, family, and anyone you think would like to share their views with Fine Gael.”
