Mayo Minister of State Dara Calleary has welcomed the allocation of a combined total of almost €20,000 for four local community and voluntary groups under the Seniors Alert Scheme. In conjunction with the previous Scheme of Community Support for Older People over €1.947m has been approved under the schemes this year, with 445 groups receiving funds nationwide. “I am delighted four Mayo based groups will be receiving significant financial assistance under this latest tranche of funding and that many local older people can now benefit from the scheme. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local organisations in promoting and fostering community activity at a local level. I would ask them to continue to look after the older people in their communities,” said Minister Calleary. The organisations to receive funding are: Crossmolina Community Council €13,271.50; Clar ICH Claremorris €5,720.40; Louisburgh Lecanvey Community Alert €717; and Glencastle Church Area Community Alert €323.50.
