Man in court for handling stolen school computers

A 28-year-old German man who was found in possession of drugs and for handling stolen property was before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.

During a drugs search on June 4 2010, Christian Auberach, Drumconlon, Castlebar, was detected in possession of a laptop, which had been stolen from St Tiernan’s College in Crossmolina. On June 8, another drugs search was carried out in his residence, where a Dell desktop, which had been stolen from Belcarra National School was found as was cannabis to the value of €48.65.

According to his solicitor, James Ward, Auberach had been given the stolen property by another. The defendant has previously received the Probation Act in relation to possession of drugs.

The unemployed man, who has been in Ireland for eight years, was remanded on continuing bail by Judge Mary Devins to March 16 for a probation report.
