Gambling is rarely a profitable business for those who indulge in it, but one lucky punter in Westport last week enjoyed a massive win of €97,000 after pulling off a daring accumulator bet over four different horse races.
The west of Ireland winner placed a €5 each-way lucky 15 along with a €10 each-way accumulator bet on four horses running on the re-scheduled Paddy Power Chase Day at Leopardstown. Each of the four animals duly obliged, romping home at the south Dublin venue much to the delight of the jubilant punter.
Paddy Power said “Sticking a 33-1 shot into your accumulator takes some kahunas but it paid off in spades for this lucky lad. Sure is a nice way to face into the New Year.”
