A woman who was discovered intoxicated in charge of a car told the arresting garda that he would have “no luck with me you bastard, the likes of me keeps you in a job.”
Mary Butler, Turlough Village, Castlebar, was before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday after she was arrested on January 1 at 3.05am drunk in charge of her vehicle on the Old Turlough Road. Following an anonymous tip-off, Butler was discovered pulled in on the hard shoulder with her engine running. At Castlebar Garda Station she failed to provide a breath specimen.
The defendant, who has one previous drink driving conviction, was convicted and fined €600 by Judge Mary Devins and disqualified from driving for four years.
