A day-long seminar which explores issues relevant for people parenting alone will take place in Castlebar on Saturday November 22.
Ann Conway Walsh, co-ordinator of Castlebar Le Chéile Family Resource Centre, explained the motivation behind the seminar: “Figures from Census 2006 show that one in ten households in counties Galway and Mayo are headed by a lone parent.We are hoping that lone parents who attend the seminar will go away with all kinds of useful information about how to access or establish local groups, how to manage change in their lives and how to overcome barriers holding them back socially or professionally.”
The seminar will take place in the Ballyheane Community Centre (where childcare will be provided in the adjoining community childcare facility ).
