Cllr Michelle Mulherin, chairperson of the Theatre Fundraising Committee, congratulated Ruth Hogan for organising the inaugural event and Fionn McCumhaill and his team at the new hotel for hosting it at the new Ballina Manor Hotel on Barrett Street this Saturday and Sunday. Partial proceeds from the event will go towards the fundraising for the new theatre and arts centre in the town.
Cllr Mulherin said. “We have a wealth of local food producers and artisans in the Ballina area and around Mayo and Sligo in general and this is a great opportunity to showcase all that is good about their products and for them to be supported by the public. Also the newly renovated hotel is a top class venue and is located just up the street from the new theatre. Thanks very much to Ruth Hogan for her innovation in organising this event and for kindly supporting our fundraising efforts for the new theatre in the process. The construction of the theatre is entering its final phase and we continue to fundraise in these difficult economic times because it is important now more than ever that it is fitted out and finished to the highest standard so that we can have a building we can be proud of now and for future generations.”
