Three local water schemes in the county have been issued with disconnection notices.
According to Claremorris Electoral Area councillor Damien Ryan, the local authority have issued disconnection notices on schemes in Hollymount, Kilmaine and Ballinrobe.
The Fianna Fáil councillor said that this action by the council is “somewhat disingenuous” and “not something to be proud of”, particularly in the run up to Christmas.
Cllr Ryan said that he will raise this issue at the monthly county council meeting to be held on Monday.
Director of services Seamus Granahan said that disconnection is normally the last resort following a consultation phase.
