Shows, workshops, a fireworks spectacular on Lough Lannagh and much more:
RoolaBoola 2008, the Linenhall Arts Centre’s fun-packed 11th annual arts fest for young people comes to its brilliant climax with a bank holiday Weekend (October 25 to 27 ) of fun and frolics for young ones and their families. It’s brilliant!
Great shows
The excitement is red hot at the Linenhall, the RoolaBoola Booking Office is working overtime, but there are still tickets left for plenty of shows for all ages over the bank holiday weekend, including: Shona Reppe’s magical puppetry in Olga Volt, a funny and totally engaging show about the electric fairy and her act that goes horribly wrong, for ages seven years and up (Saturday October 25 at 12pm and 3pm ); and Cahoots NI’s fantastical circus family experience, The Flea Pit, taking place in a colourful caravan on Castlebar’s Market Square (Saturday 25 and Sunday October 26, various times, 6 years+ ). And plenty more besides!
Workshops galore
If you’re between three and 12, and you want to try your hand at anything from singing and rhyming through music and drama to 2D and 3D visual arts making, the Linenhall is the place to be over the bank holiday weekend. Just be sure and book in advance! Plus there are whole lot of free drop-in workshops for those “in-between” moments to keep the fun going.
Free events
As well as the free drop-in events there’s much more besides. Tom Meskell and the HSE Rural Training Centre presents the strange and mysterious world of wonder The Ant Farm on Friday October 24 at 7.30pm (a free event! ), plus there is your very own, My RoolaBoola art exhibition in the Linenhall café from October 20.
The fireworks
Last but not least, there is the free Lough Lannagh Lights lakeside firework finale on Bank Holiday Monday (October 27 at 8pm ), an unforgettable end to another brilliant RoolaBoola experience: a magical, fun-filled brew for the kids and the rest of the family too!
