O’Mahony calls on people to support elderly neighbours and relatives during cold snap

Mayo Fine Gael TD John O’Mahony is again calling on the general public to be aware of how their elderly neighbours and relatives are coping in the cold snap.

Deputy O’Mahony said that, with the cold weather arriving earlier than usual, some people may not have been prepared. “We all have a duty at this time of year to keep an eye out for those who might be vulnerable to this cold spell,” he said. “If we simply drop by and make sure that those people are alright then we are carrying out a hugely important role in our communities. Elderly people living on their own are particularly at risk in this weather and we owe it to them to make sure that they are coping with this spell of cold weather.”
