Instant text messaging now widely used by schools for alerts

The Irish Primary Principals’ Network is advising parents that most schools are using TextaParent.ie to provide reliable information to parents about school closures.

Since Sunday more than 354,000 such messages have been sent by principals using the Textaparent.ie service following the cold snap and the need to advise parents regarding schooling arrangements. The service is a simple web-based system that is fast, reliable, and cost effective, enabling schools to communicate with parents quickly and easily by sending instant text messages to the school community – parents, members of staff, etc.
