Flahavan’s, Ireland’s favourite porridge, has launched a competition offering people in Mayo an opportunity to demonstrate flair, imagination, and innovation using oats as an ingredient. There are two top prizes of €1,500 for the winning entries.
Flahavan’s is calling for entries demonstrating cooking skills in two categories — The Perfect Porridge and The Oat Combo, the tastiest oat-based dish.
“The Flahavan’s Challenge is a great way for people to demonstrate their creativity using oats in various recipes,” said John Noonan, Flahavan’s sales and marketing director. “Oats are a versatile ingredient, adding texture and taste to countless dishes. Plus, oats have the added bonus of being healthy as they are 100 per cent natural with nothing added.”
The Flahavan’s Challenge is an All-Ireland competition. Recipe entries along with preparation methods and photographs can be submitted via www.flahavans.com or posted to E Flahavan & Sons Ltd, Porridge-Making Challenge, Kilnagrange Mills, Kilmacthomas, Co Waterford.
The winning recipe in each category will receive a top prize of €1,500, with the runners up winning €500 each. Competition runs from December 1, 2010 to February 28, 2011. Multiple entries can be submitted and there is no age limit. The overall winners and runners up in each category will be announced in March 2011 and terms and conditions are available on www.flahavans.com
