A 31-year-old man from Ballina was disqualified from driving for four years after being detected driving while under the influence of cannabis.
Inspector Joe Doherty told Ballina District Court on Tuesday, that on February 2 2010 at 5.50pm, gardaí stopped Alan O’Connor, 86 The Sycamores, Cluain na Rí, Ballina driving on the Foxford Road.
The garda who stopped him smelt cannabis coming from the defendant. O’Connor admitted he had smoked a joint and a urine analysis showed that cannabis was present in the defendant’s system.
The unemployed man was convicted and fined €700 by Judge Mary Devins and disqualified from driving for four years.
