The Fine Gael General Election selection convention will take place on Sunday December 5 in the TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar.
Nomination of candidates for the convention closed at 6pm on Friday November 19.
Cllr Michelle Mulherin, who topped the poll in the recent local elections, received nominations from the Fine Gael clubs and individuals in Foxford, Knockmore, Ballina, Ardnaree, Bonniconlon, Attymass, Laherdaun, Bofeenaun, Crossmolina, Carn, Moygownagh, Kilfian, Mountpalmer, Killala, Ballymacahola, and Ballycastle. Her candidacy has also been supported by the Swinford District Executive meeting in Kiltimagh.
She will go before the selection convention alongside party leader Enda Kenny, Deputy Michael Ring, and Deputy John O'Mahony in the Fine Gael bid to make history in the county by securing four Dáil seats and a Mayo taoiseach. A massive crowd is expected at the convention and people are requested to arrive early.
