Shoppers who converge on Ballinrobe this Christmas will find themselves in the shake-up for free cash give-aways totalling €10,000 from local traders. The novel campaign will see €1,000 given out over five Monday nights, from November 22.
It will conclude with a bang when one lucky shopper’s name will be pulled from the hat to receive €5,000 at a special Race Night in Art’s Bar, on Wednesday, December 29. That’s a total of €10,000 to be given out in Ballinrobe over the festive season.
“All people have to do be in with a chance of winning some of this money is shop in Ballinrobe. Tickets will be handed out by individual traders and shops,” said a spokesperson for the organising committee. “It is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all who supported Ballinrobe over the past year, and also a method of encouraging people to shop local in the run-up to Christmas.”
Cllr Michael Burke, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, added:
“Ballinrobe is making a special effort this year to give people reason to shop here. There is an excellent variety of businesses in the town, and we would urge all, particularly locals, to consider Ballinrobe for all their shopping needs this Christmas.”
The town’s Christmas lights will be switched on this Sunday, November 28, at 6pm.
