PAWS FOR THOUGHT

Mayo SPCA urgently needs to find caring homes for its rescued animals, some of which are shown here. Others can be viewed on the web site at www.mayospca.com

Alice

Alice is a three-month-old cross-bred spaniel. She has a full tail and was handed into care in the filthiest state. A sweet pup, now clean, vet checked, flea/worm treated and had her first vaccination, she is healthy, very happy, enjoys playing with other pups/dogs, is very gentle, highly intelligent, and would be an ideal family pet. Alice would bond so easily with anyone and will be an easy pup to train.

Ruby

Ruby is a mare and approximately seven years old. She was cruelly abandoned and reduced to eating stones in an effort to stay alive by the time she was found. She has now had several visits from the vet, her overgrown, curling, hooves treated, although her feet are still quite sore, the horrendous worm infestation has been cleared and she needs feeding, warmth, and plenty of TLC to restore her to health. She has no muscle, fat, or indeed hardly any hair to keep her warm but is enjoying a warm, hay filled, stable. Ruby has such a quiet, gentle, nature and it is obvious someone cared for her in the past. She appears to have been well schooled and have good breeding. Mayo SPCA has other ponies to care for and needing homes so if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.

Almond

Almond is a young female kitten found with severe injuries to her front leg. She was starving, severely malnourished, and in a lot of pain. Unfortunately the vet was unable to save little Almond's leg and it had to be amputated. She has made an amazing recovery and is getting about just fine, has another kitten for company, is using a litter tray, and looking in really good shape now. She needs a safe home where she will not have to face dangers that would mean she would have to try to climb up a tree, as she could not do this. A discounted price voucher will be issued to have her spayed at six months of age to prevent any further unwanted litters of kittens.

Mayo SPCA now has Christmas cards and calendars available for sale in order to raise funds to help pay vets bills for rescued animals.
