From this week new mobile safety cameras are in operation throughout the county as part of a national Garda safety campaign.
The cameras will operate from vans which will be marked with high visibility reflective material and display a safety camera symbol.
In Mayo there are 16 camera locations, which include stretches of the N5 from Westport to Castlebar; on parts of the N84 Ballinrobe Road; on the N59 Sligo road out of Ballina; on the R314 Killala road from Ballina; on the R314 between Barnatra to Ballina road in Belmullet; and on the R321 in Kiltimagh.
