Sentencing adjourned for woman who changed price tags in Tesco

A Castlebar woman who has 39 previous convictions, 19 of them for theft, had her sentencing adjourned to December 21 after pleading guilty to theft at a hearing in Claremorris District Court this week.

Superintendent Padraic O’Toole told the court that Winifred Reilly, 14 Castlegrove, Castlebar, went into Tesco in Claremorris and took the price tag off underwear in the store then picked up more expensive underwear and went to the self service check out where she scanned the cheaper price tag through. She was stopped leaving the store by members of staff. Judge John Coughlan convicted Reilly, but he adjourned sentencing until December 21.
