A former employee of Mayo County Council was charged on Wednesday morning with 117 charges in relation to fraudulently obtaining €63,000 from Mayo County Council over a six year period.
Detective Garda Edward McLoughlin outlined to Castlebar District Court that when Tom Gilboy, Mount Gregory, Castlebar, was charged at Castlebar Garda Station on Wednesday morning his reply to all charges was “no comment”.
The alleged incidents of taking cash and forging signatures on travel and subsistence forms occurred between 2002 and 2008.
State solicitor Vincent Deane said that the DPP has directed trial on indictment.
There was no objection to bail, and the 46-year-old man was remanded on continuing bail to Kiltimagh District Court on December 17 where the book of evidence will be served.
Legal aid was granted.
