Hefty speeding fines were handed down by Judge John Coughlan at Wednesday’s sitting of Castlebar District Court.
A number of people caught speeding in 50 kilometre zones in Castlebar, and who failed to pay a fixed charge, were convicted and fined amounts ranging from €200 to €750. The maximum fine which can be imposed in the district court for these offences is €800.
A tractor driver who was also detected driving while using his mobile phone, was convicted and fined €500 by Judge Coughlan.
