Some 170 Mayo schools are to benefit from the allocation of funding for high-tech classrooms, said Beverley Flynn, TD. The Mayo primary schools will receive in all €800,000 in funds, with each school receiving a block grant of €1,700 and a payment of €35.70 a pupil to enable the schools purchase high-tech equipment.
Deputy Flynn said that the grants would range from as high as €19,338 for St Patrick's NS, Castlebar, and €16,122 for St Angela's NS, Castlebar.
The deputy said that DEIS schools will receive a higher basic grant of €2,550.
The Fianna Fáil TD said that the “allocations were a confirmation of the need to provide ICT teaching in our schools”.
