The Union of Students in Ireland and GMIT Castlebar Students Union have enjoyed major success with a national campaign which urges students and the public to lobby their local TDs to protect higher education in the Budget 2011.
The campaign, entitled Tell Your TD, consists of a special website (www.tellyourtd.com ) which allows the public to send a letter to their local TDs to state that education should be protected in the upcoming budget.
Some 25,000 letters have been generated via the website from concerned people across Ireland in the past fortnight and will be sent on to TDs in the coming days.
“Castlebar SU is delighted at the exceptional turn out of over a quarter of our student body in the national march last week, and now we have ramped up our campaign to protect our students’ futures with the Tell Your TD campaign,” said president of Castlebar GMIT students’ union Alan Judge.
