MGH to host commemorative events

2010 marks the International Year of the Nurse and the centennial year of the death of Florence Nightingale. In commemoration of the inspiring work carried out by Florence Nightingale during the Crimean War and the years that followed, Mayo General Hospital, in association with nursing across County Mayo, is marking the event with a number of free events.

On November 9, a number of stands will be presented in MGH to outline the variety of roles that nurses have in relation to healthcare delivery. There will also be a number of public information sessions throughout the week: on November 10 from 10am to 11am — Risk Factors for Stroke, Lecture Hall, MGH; November 10 from 6pm to 7.30 pm — Alcohol and Substance Misuse, Lecture Hall; November 11 from 2pm to 3.30pm — Pain Management, Lecture Hall; November 11 from 6pm to 7.30pm — Asthma, COPD and Smoking Cessation, Lecture Hall; November 11 from 7pm — Ecumenical Service in memory of deceased nurses and Blessing of the Hands Ceremony, Sacred Heart Hospital Church; on November 12 from 10am to 11.30am — Risk Factors for Heart Disease, Lecture Hall.
