A 20-year-old man from Castlebar, who forced a pedestrian to jump out of the way of his car, was disqualified for two years at this week’s sitting of Castlebar District Court.
On October 6 2009 at 4pm, Donal Deegan, 2 Hollow Grove, Castlebar, came around a narrow bend at speed on the Rathbawn Road, which forced a pedestrian to jump out of his way. The car then overtook another car as they approached a hill.
Deegan, who has no previous convictions, and who is taking part in a FÁS course, was convicted and fined €250 and disqualified from driving by Judge Mary Devins.
