Tributes have been paid to two Mayo disability groups for their role as driving forces behind National Disability Organisations, by Dragon’s Den TV star Sean Gallagher.
At a National Conference hosted by the Irish Association of Supported Employment (IASE ) and People with disabilities in Ireland (PwDI ), held at Knockranny House Hotel in Westport this month, Gallagher stated: “If people can believe that they can achieve something and they go out there with determination and focus and can communicate that message to the world, then they will achieve anything they want to and I believe that these two organisations are doing that here in Mayo.”
The Cavan entrepreneur and TV star grew up in a small village where entrepreneurship and hard work were core values he learned at an early age. He has also overcome his own disability of congenital cataracts.
“People with disabilities have specific needs and requirements that demand and require supports. Organisations like the IASE and the PwDI in Mayo are two very important organisations that bring awareness to the fore and provide valuable supports that allow people with disabilities to engage with employers and society,” he said.
