New charity shop opens in aid of Mayo Cancer Support

Faith, Hope and Charity - a new charity shop - will open its doors to the public on Tuesday November 2 in Market Square, Castlebar, just beside Dunnes Stores.

The charity shop is opening in conjunction with the Mayo Cancer Support Association also known as Rock Rose House, and all proceeds collected will be spent to help cancer patients within the county.

Rock Rose House provides for the needs of people living with cancer, with trained staff and volunteers providing constant help and support to patients recovering from cancer.

Mayo Cancer Support Association was formed in August 1999 by a group of volunteers who recognised the need for the service through personal experience and working with people diagnosed with cancer. Initially the service was run from the Family Centre, Castlebar, but due to growing demand and with the help and support of the people of Mayo, on April 14, 2003, the service moved to its own premises at Rock Rose House at 32, St Patricks Avenue, Castlebar.

As with all voluntary organisations funding is always an issue, hence the idea of the charity shop. Faith, Hope and Charity will be depending on the goodwill and generosity of the people of Mayo and will accept new and quality used ladies’, gents’ and children's clothes. Also accepted are shoes, books and household non electrical items, basically anything in saleable condition that will help raise funds for Rock Rose House. All donations can be dropped into the shop at Market Square, Castlebar.

Open Monday to Saturday 9.30 am to 5.30pm.
